AES 2009 Wrap-Up: SONAR 8.5 Steals the Show

Johnny Juice, Run DMC & Cakewalk TeamGreetings from the 127th Annual AES (Audio Engineering Society) Convention in New York City at the Javitz Center! We are on the last leg of the final day here at AES and it has been a whirlwind. We got here on Thursday to set up for the show and have been working hard at exemplifying all the killer new features in SONAR 8.5 as well as the work-horses V-Studio 700 and V-Studio 100.

Our East Coast Product Specialist Rich Curtis along with our Midwest Product Specialist Mike Trujillo (two of the hardest working guys in show biz) barely have their voices left after all the demoing and dialogue needed for the foot traffic. It looks like the buzz on the street is SONAR 8.5 because we literally had every walk of life (mostly other DAW users) stopping in to check out the new 8.5 as well as the new hardware.

Artist Impression: DJ Johnny Juice on V-Studio 100

Producer, DJ, multi-instrumentalist, and long time SONAR expert, Johnny Juice was an original member of the Bomb Squad at the age of 15, and has been doing productions for Public Enemy, Reverend Run, and countless others ever since.

The man is always working; his credo is “sleep is for the dead,” so he’s always looking for tools that speed up his workflow, travel with him,  and sound great…and if they can combine more than one function in one device, even better.

Because of his long history with SONAR and relentless schedule, we asked Juice to put the V-Studio 100 through its paces. Watch the video to find out if it passed his test.

“This unit is ridiculous.   I can bounce with it on the road and use it for backing tracks AND recording, and then import my work when I get back to my studio right from the SD card.”
