font-size: small;\">The track was written by Paul, TC and J Hart who also sang the track.\u00a0 TC Spitfire who is a passionate SONAR X1 Expanded user co-produced and mixed the track using a combination of all the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cakewalk.com\/Products\/By-Category.aspx\/ProChannel-Modules\" target=\"_blank\"> ProChannel modules<\/a>.\u00a0 \u201cThis new era with the ProChannel and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cakewalk.com\/Products\/SONAR\/X1-Producer\/about.aspx\/SONAR-X1-Producer-Expanded\" target=\"_blank\">X1d [Expanded]<\/a> is on a serious elevated level.\u00a0 The combination of the modules has me staying more and more inside SONAR natively,\u201d TC told us.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\">On a daily basis, TC is very busy individual.\u00a0 Between writing new music, producing, mixing and remixing, he finds himself a bit overextended these days and \u201ctaking it and enjoying it while it\u2019s there.\u201d\u00a0 Most recently, he has worked with artists such as Cher, Matt Goss, Matt Morris and Jean Baptist \u2013 and that is just in the recent past.\u00a0 \u201cOn a daily basis I will jump from remixing a track for 4 hours, to writing in another studio for 4 hours, and then back to our lab for another <em>however-long-it-takes-session<\/em> &#8211; for the next barrage of musical craziness.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/noelborthwick.com\/cakewalk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/TC-Billboard.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-7916\" title=\"TC Billboard\" src=\"https:\/\/noelborthwick.com\/cakewalk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/TC-Billboard.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"371\" height=\"520\" \/><\/a>For the track <em>Surrender<\/em> which is currently charting on the Billboard Dance Club Chart, TC collaborated with both Paul Oakenfold and J Hart on the writing side and then built and mixed the song completely in SONAR X1 Expanded.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\">* * * * * * * * * *<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\"><strong>CW AR:<\/strong> This vocal sound is huge in this track.\u00a0 What was some of the processing involved?<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\"><strong>TC:<\/strong> On the vocal track I used the new Hybrid mode in the ProChannels <a href=\"https:\/\/noelborthwick.com\/cakewalk\/quadcurve-eq-demystified\/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+gridserver%2FXiBy+%28Music+Production+Software%29\" target=\"_blank\">QuadCurve EQ<\/a>.\u00a0 I cut quite a bit of the low end off and had quite a bit of mids popping for this track around 1.8k.\u00a0 I was able to surgically cut out some other frequencies in the mids to get the vocals away from other keyboard parts in that range.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\">On top of that, I used the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cakewalk.com\/products\/SONAR\/X1-Producer\/feature.aspx\/PC4K-S-Type-Channel-Compressor\" target=\"_blank\">PC4K channel compressor <\/a>along with a slight touch of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cakewalk.com\/Products\/SONAR\/X1-Producer\/feature.aspx\/Softube-Saturation-Knob\" target=\"_blank\">Softube Saturation Knob <\/a>with the switch on the \u201chigh\u201d setting.\u00a0 I also sent multiple lead vocal tracks out to a lead vocal bus which had the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cakewalk.com\/Products\/ProChannel-Modules\/ProChannel-Concrete-Limiter.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">PCCL Limiter <\/a>on it for a slight boost and some tightening.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\"><strong>CW AR:<\/strong> This track and all your tracks for that matter are really tight, what are the main factors for you in achieving this sound?<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\"><strong>TC:<\/strong> It\u2019s pretty simple, but it\u2019s also pretty complicated.\u00a0 It\u2019s simple, because most of it has to do with compression, EQ and limiting, which are 75% from the ProChannel in my tracks.\u00a0 It\u2019s complicated because carving the frequencies, making the decisions on where to compress and how much, and what to use a limiter on \u2013 all factor in.\u00a0 Sometimes, over compressing and using too many limiters will just make a song sound flat-lined and not breathing.\u00a0\u00a0 I think another factor is not using too many of the same compressors or EQ\u2019s on every single track.\u00a0 I really like mixing up my inserts.\u00a0 On some tracks I will use the 76 and others I will use the Softube compressor.\u00a0 I even use the PC4K bus compressor on tracks \u2013 call me crazy \u2013 haaa.\u00a0\u00a0 There are no rules in the digital world and use my ear and the tools SONAR X1 Expanded provides to get the sound to where I need it to be.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">In the next year you will be hearing a lot more from Paul Oakenfold and TC as a new deal was just signed with Sony Records.\u00a0 As soon as the details are released on that we will keep you posted.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cakewalk.com\/Products\/SONAR\/Web-Trial.aspx\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;
