The decade of the 80\u2019s for example was a major era for reverb. In today\u2019s pop music, the use of pitch correction software seems to be an effect that many artists and producers are utilizing creatively. Daft Punk has been using this effect for a number of years now, making them one of the first to bring this vocal style to the level of popularity it is today.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-13068\" title=\"SONAR X3 &amp; Melodyne\" src=\"https:\/\/noelborthwick.com\/cakewalk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/TPain-Effect-1.jpg\" alt=\"SONAR X3 &amp; Melodyne\" width=\"516\" height=\"290\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To create a Daft Punk inspired vocal effect<!--more--> using Melodyne Editor and SONAR X3:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Open your project<\/li>\n<li>Solo your vocal take<\/li>\n<li>Right-click on it<\/li>\n<li>Select Region FX &gt; Melodyne &gt; Create Region FX<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Allow ARA integration to finish analyzing and transferring the audio into the Mutli-Dock<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/noelborthwick.com\/cakewalk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Intended-Notes.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13069\" title=\"Intended Notes\" src=\"https:\/\/noelborthwick.com\/cakewalk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Intended-Notes.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"399\" height=\"201\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Save $200 off <a href=\"http:\/\/www.store.cakewalk.com\/default.asp?10-CMSP3.00-20E\">Melodyne Editor 2.0 &amp; SONAR X3 Producer<\/a> through May 22nd, 2014!<\/p>\n<p>Once Melodyne Editor appears, make sure to to go to View &gt; Show Intended Notes. This will display the notes that Melodyne has decided are the notes your vocal melody is following. Next, make sure to activate Snap to Scale. Do this by going to Edit &gt; Pitch Grid &gt; Scale Snap. After this, select the Pitch Tool. You can select it in the toolbar or right-click anywhere in the interface which will allow the tool bar to appear.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/noelborthwick.com\/cakewalk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Pitch-Tool.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13070\" title=\"Pitch Tool\" src=\"https:\/\/noelborthwick.com\/cakewalk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Pitch-Tool.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"375\" height=\"341\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Go ahead and select the entire section that you would to like to pitch correct. You can select using the Pitch Tool.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/noelborthwick.com\/cakewalk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Pitch-Tool-Select-Section.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-13071\" title=\"Pitch Tool Select Section\" src=\"https:\/\/noelborthwick.com\/cakewalk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Pitch-Tool-Select-Section.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"578\" height=\"311\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now simply double-click on one of the blobs and all the notes will snap to the desired locations. You can go through and manually modify each note one by one as well.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_13074\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13074\" style=\"width: 590px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/noelborthwick.com\/cakewalk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Before-and-After-Snap-to-Scale-Tool.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-13074   \" title=\"Before and after Snap to Scale Tool\" src=\"https:\/\/noelborthwick.com\/cakewalk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Before-and-After-Snap-to-Scale-Tool.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"590\" height=\"322\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-13074\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Before &amp; after Pitch snapping to scale<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Next, select the Pitch Modulation Tool. The Pitch Modulation Tool is used mainly to flatten or exaggerate the vibrato, bending, and overall curve of pitch.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/noelborthwick.com\/cakewalk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Pitch-Modulation-Tool.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13075\" title=\"Pitch Modulation Tool\" src=\"https:\/\/noelborthwick.com\/cakewalk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Pitch-Modulation-Tool.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"455\" height=\"390\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Double-click the middle of your blobs. This will flatten the selected blobs and constrict the notes so that they do not vary in pitch at all. This can be very smooth, or be very rigid. For the Daft Punk Vocal Effect to take place you must make the amount of slide between all of the selected blobs very rigid. Select the Pitch Tool again and hover over the tail of each blob. The cursor will change shape. Simply click, hold, and drag downwards to square off all the selected blobs.<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\">\n<figure id=\"attachment_13077\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13077\" style=\"width: 561px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/noelborthwick.com\/cakewalk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Before-and-After-Transition.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-13077    \" title=\"Before and After Transition\" src=\"https:\/\/noelborthwick.com\/cakewalk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Before-and-After-Transition.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"561\" height=\"186\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-13077\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Before &amp; after adjusting the slide of each blob<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Once this is done, you can use the Note Separate tool to separate blobs into smaller parts.
