This opens up many doorways for users to convert their mono audio tracks to MIDI. One great use case for this is replacing drums or adding samples to your drum tracks to enhance their sound.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Within SONAR open up your Kick and Snare tracks.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Add a MIDI track below each audio track that you wish to replace.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/noelborthwick.com\/cakewalk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Setup.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-12140\" title=\"Setup\" src=\"https:\/\/noelborthwick.com\/cakewalk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Setup-e1381354950327.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"554\" height=\"350\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Add our new Logical Gate\/Expander to both the Kick and Snare and adjust the effect so that instruments are heavily gated and sound like the following:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F114614421&amp;color=ff6600&amp;auto_play=false&amp;show_artwork=false\" frameborder=\"no\" scrolling=\"no\" width=\"100%\" height=\"166\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/noelborthwick.com\/cakewalk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Gate-First.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-12135\" title=\"Gate First\" src=\"https:\/\/noelborthwick.com\/cakewalk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Gate-First.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"566\" height=\"390\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">After this, Freeze both tracks. \u00a0This is going to render the Kick and Snare tracks with the gates embedded in the audio tracks.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/noelborthwick.com\/cakewalk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Then-Freeze-after-gating.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-12137\" title=\"Then Freeze after gating\" src=\"https:\/\/noelborthwick.com\/cakewalk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Then-Freeze-after-gating.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"553\" height=\"336\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Next, latency. \u00a0Let\u2019s drop the latency to the lowest settings. Go to Edit &gt; Preferences &gt; Driver Settings and set your latency low. This will help with timing.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you are using MME (32bit) set your latency closer to [Safe].<\/li>\n<li>If you are using ASIO then select [ASIO Panel] and set your buffer size very low.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/noelborthwick.com\/cakewalk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Set-your-Buffer-Size-Low.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12139\" title=\"Set your Buffer Size Low\" src=\"https:\/\/noelborthwick.com\/cakewalk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Set-your-Buffer-Size-Low.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"314\" height=\"171\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Drag and drop your kick and snare tracks to their associated MIDI track. Conversion will occur.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/noelborthwick.com\/cakewalk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Shot-of-the-ARA-Technology.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12141\" title=\"Shot of the ARA Technology\" src=\"https:\/\/noelborthwick.com\/cakewalk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Shot-of-the-ARA-Technology.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"229\" height=\"81\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Next up, open the PRV and move your MIDI Clips to the drum you wish to use. You can highlight the entire row of MIDI clips by selecting their associated piano key and transpose them easily by going to Process &gt; Transpose.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/noelborthwick.com\/cakewalk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Transpose-Tracks-to-Correct-Pitch.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-12142\" title=\"Transpose Tracks to Correct Pitch\" src=\"https:\/\/noelborthwick.com\/cakewalk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Transpose-Tracks-to-Correct-Pitch.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"604\" height=\"362\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Once this is done insert Addictive Drums.
